Why I shouldn't Install WIndows 10 - Part 2

1. Your System Might Not Run It

Most people won’t have any issues when it comes to their computer being able to run Windows 10, but the reality is that you still need to meet certain system requirements in order to run it well. While the minimum system requirements aren’t exactly taxing, even if your computer meets the requirements, it doesn’t mean you will have an optimal experience. If your machine doesn’t exceed the system requirements by a decent margin and runs well enough on your current OS, it makes a lot more sense to wait until you upgrade your computer before making the switch.

2. It’s Not Totally Free

In typical fashion whenever the word ‘free’ pops up, there are some caveats. While it’s true that Microsoft is giving Windows 7 and 8 users a copy, this is because they have already bought a Windows license and there-in lies the rub. This explanation goes into better detail, but the main takeaway is that Microsoft is giving away Windows 10 to consumers in order to make money in pretty much all other avenues of its business. It’s basically a trojan horse designed to get everyone on the same platform in order to make money off of them in a myriad of other ways. Heck, even Solitaire is asking for our money now. While it’s great to be getting an upgrade without having to shell out the $100 it typically costs for a new OS, don’t believe for a second that Microsoft is giving it away out of the goodness of their hearts; they’re going to make a lot of money off you regardless.

3. No More Windows Media Center

One of the strangest changes that Windows 10 makes is that it basically eliminates Windows Media Center as we know it. While this may not be an issue for some, those who use the program to access their multimedia content will have to find a new way to do so, which is a rather annoying and seemingly unnecessary change to force on consumers. Of course, this isn’t a deal-breaker by any means, as there are numerous alternatives available, but it’s still unfortunate to see a useful program bite the dust for no good reason.

4. Forced Updates

Software updates are a necessary evil if you want to have the newest features, but users are typically able to opt out of updates if they so wish. Not so with Windows 10. Microsoft has enforced mandatory updates that will be installed to your system whether you like it or not. While there is nothing inherently wrong with wanting to make a program as secure and functional as possible, robbing people of choice is sure to ruffle a few feathers. As many iPhone users can attest, there comes a point in time when new firmware updates start to cause more harm to your device than good. Now, Windows 10 could very well break your computer with a new update and there’s nothing you can do or say about it because you were never given the choice in the first place.

5. The Longer You Wait, The Better It Will Be

The best reason to hold off making the switch to Windows 10 is that practically every new major software release has a number of bugs and glitches at launch that can take awhile to be sorted out. If you’re already getting by fine with your current OS, why make yourself essentially a Windows 10 tester when you could just wait a few months for the major issues to be ironed out. You’ll still be able to download it for free and have peace of mind that you’re getting an OS that has proven itself on the market already. Computers already have enough annoyances as it is; there’s no point in adding more to the pile.

Botched Updates

While the majority of updates do go successfully, it has been known for some of them to do more harm than good. Past problems vary from the minor to the major: input lag on some games, broken playback on specific video file types and even a full-on blue screen of death. While the problems were acknowledged by Microsoft and resolved, it’s an inconvenience that users shouldn’t have to go through. If Windows 10 will force updates on everyone, can we be sure that they will always be stable?

Reduced Flexibility

Windows 10 will be the last version of Microsoft’s operating system. Whereas in the past the launch of the latest version of Windows was a big event, consumers are now wired to expect their updates to be free, thanks to companies like Apple and Google. As such, the idea is that everyone will just be running Windows as a service. Think of an online site you use, like Facebook, which continues to evolve while still maintaining the same name and lacking version numbers. This is what Microsoft now see Windows as being like.

o an extent, users have flexibility over their flavor of Windows. There are some people who are still sticking with XP, despite official support for it having ended, simply because they prefer it over the subsequent operating systems. There’s people out there who don’t upgrade their operating systems purely because they’ve got used to what they know and it’ll be too much of a hassle to learn their way round a new system. With Windows 10, there won’t be any choice about what features you install or future aesthetic changes you approve. Everyone will have exactly the same thing, whether they like it or not.
Of course, it’s too early to say how big feature updates will be handled. Let’s say that Microsoft one day decides to overhaul the visual design of Windows 10–will we be able to stick with the ‘classic’ theme or will there be no choice in that either? And how can we know that Microsoft won’t force software on us that we don’t want, especially when Candy Crush Saga is being pre-installed on all systems. Flexibility is king and it’s being lost under this new updating method.

10 New Features in Windows 10

1. There's loads of stuff for touch, but it's different stuff

Designed to appeal to experts and novices alike, Microsoft was at pains to point out that it hasn't given up on touch with the new OS. The Charms bar remains for the moment although we expect it to die if you're using a non-touch PC (check out Continum below).

Microsoft says it wants to support touch users who have persevered with Windows 8 and "evolve" the touch UI. (Translated: That means it is changing quite a bit.) The task switching will no longer work on the left. So with that and the charms going, that's goodbye to most of the problem with Windows 8 - and a whole philosophy down the pan.

Microsoft's Joe Belfiore said at the preview: "We want Windows 7 users to feel like they upgraded from a [Toyota] Prius to a Tesla, but they don't need to learn a new way to drive."

2. It's BACK!

As we've covered before, the e most noticeable change is the new Start Menu, which looks somewhat like the old start menu. It brings some features from the Windows 8.1 Start Screen, such as live tiles, and can be resized.

3. Another new Task View (the Windows 8 flippy thing has gone)

Now the Windows 8 task switcher has been unceremoniously dumped, there's a new Task View in Windows 10, too, so users can switch between virtual desktops.That's because Microsoft now recognises that novice users use the taskbar rather than switching in other, cleverer, ways such as Alt+Tab (which also now switches between desktops).

4. Snap Assist helps you snap windows

A new Snap Assist feature also helps users work out which way is best to snap apps to. You can snap windows into new screens and tile Windows - just as you've been able to since Windows 2.0 or maybe 3.0.

5. The Command Prompt enters the 21st Century

Another quite amazing feature for those of us that use it is that the command prompt is now getting keyboard shortcuts! So you will be able to paste in your commands! Hardly groundbreaking, but actually pretty exciting.

Choose Virtual Box Host-Only Ethernet Adapter. Right Click on it, go to the properties. There are 3 tabs. GENERAL : DRIVER : DETAILS . Go to the Driver tab and see the Digital Singer name. (75% Chances you see there is unknown or No name). Close it and Update the driver. Step 3rd.

1. In the Pictures library, click a photo to select it. Click the triangle next to Preview and choose Paint from the menu.

Alternatively, you can open Paint from the Windows Photo Viewer. Choose Open→Paint to open the photo you’re previewing.

 

2. Click the File menu button to the left of Home and choose Save As.

The Save As dialog box opens. You can ignore the menu of file types, unless you know you want a particular file type.

 

3. Change the name in the File Name field to create a new copy of this picture. Click Save.

You’re now editing the new copy, so the original, unaltered file still exists under the original name. You may not need to do this for every photo, but saving a copy gives you some insurance against edits you can't fix.

Qvo6 Removal From Chrome, IE and Firefox

1. Uninstall Qvo6 and related programs from your computer using the Add/Remove Programs control panel (Windows XP) or Uninstall a program control panel (Windows 7 and Windows 8).
Go to the Start Menu. Select Control Panel → Add/Remove Programs.
If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, select Control Panel → Uninstall a Program.

If you are using Windows 8, simply drag your mouse pointer to the right edge of the screen, select Search from the list and search for "control panel".

Or you can right-click on a bottom left hot corner (formerly known as the Start button) and select Control panel from there.

2. When the Add/Remove Programs or the Uninstall a Program screen is displayed, scroll through the list of currently installed programs and remove eSave Security Control, Qvo6 toolbar, New Tabs Uninstall, Desk 365,BrowserProtect and any other recently installed application. As I said earlier, this application is rarely listed as Qvo6 in the currently installed programs list. So, either look for applications mentioned here or try to remember what software you installed recently. It's probably the culprit.

Simply select the application and click Remove. If you are using Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8, clickUninstall up near the top of that window. When you're done, please close the Control Panel screen.

PC games: they can be the bane of a Mac gamer’s existence. The Mac may be a better computer than a windows box, but even so, most games don’t support OS X. Even on Steam, the leader in cross-platform computer game support, most games run only on Windows. The reasons for this are manifold, including mid-level integrated graphics chips and less customizable hardware, but it shouldn’t be this disparate.

There are a few options for running those PC games on Macs, of course. There’s Boot Camp, which allows you to run a full copy of Windows right on your Intel-based Mac, but it requires a reboot to switch between OS X and Windows environments, which can be tedious. There are emulators you can buy, like Parallels and VMWare Fusion, but these never quite pan out, in my experience, as they always seem to be fraught with issues when connecting peripherals, mice, etc. They also cost a bit, and require a full copy of Windows, which will run you some money, too.

4. Regularly download security updates and "patches" for operating systems and other software. Most major software companies today release updates and patches to close newly discovered vulnerabilities in their software. Sometimes bugs are discovered in a program that may allow a criminal hacker to attack your computer. Before most of these attacks occur, the software companies or vendors create free patches for you that they post on their web sites. You need to be sure you download and install the patches! Check your software vendors' web sites regularly for new security patches or use the automated patching features that some companies offer. Ensure that you are getting patches from the correct patch update site. Many systems have been compromised this past year by installing patches obtained from bogus update sites or e-mails that appear to be from a vendor that provides links to those bogus sites. If you don't have the time to do the work yourself, download and install a utility program to do it for you. There are available software programs that can perform this task for you. Stay informed!

5. Use hard-to-guess passwords. Mix upper case, lower case, numbers, or other characters not easy to find in a dictionary, and make sure they are at least eight characters long. Passwords will only keep outsiders out if they are difficult to guess! Don't share your password, and don't use the same password in more than one place. If someone should happen to guess one of your passwords, you don't want them to be able to use it in other places. The golden rules of passwords are:

• A password should have a minimum of 8 characters, be as meaningless as possible, and use uppercase letters, lowercase letters, symbols and numbers, e.g., xk2&LP97.
• Change passwords regularly, at least every 90 days.
• Do not give out your password to anyone! For enhanced security, use some form of two-factor authentication. Two-factor authentication is a way to gain access by combining something you know (PIN) with something you have (token or smart card).

6. Back-up your computer data on disks or CDs regularly. Experienced computer users know that there are two types of people: those who have already lost data and those who are going to experience the pain of losing data in the future. Back up small amounts of data on floppy disks and larger amounts on CDs. If you have access to a network, save copies of your data on another computer in the network. Many people make weekly backups of all their important data. And make sure you have your original software start-up disks handy and available in the event your computer system files get damaged. Be prepared!

7. Don't share access to your computers with strangers. Learn about file sharing risks. Your computer operating system may allow other computers on a network, including the Internet, to access the hard-drive of your computer in order to "share files". This ability to share files can be used to infect your computer with a virus or look at the files on your computer if you don't pay close attention. So, unless you really need this ability, make sure you turn off file-sharing. Check your operating system and your other program help files to learn how to disable file sharing. Don't share access to your computer with strangers!

8. Disconnect from the Internet when not in use. Remember that the Digital Highway is a two-way road. You send and receive information on it. Disconnecting your computer from the Internet when you're not online lessens the chance that someone will be able to access your computer. And if you haven't kept your anti-virus software up-to-date, or don't have a firewall in place, someone could infect your computer or use it to harm someone else on the Internet. and help protect others: disconnect!

9. Check your security on a regular basis. When you change your clocks for daylight-savings time, reevaluate your computer security. The programs and operating system on your computer have many valuable features that make your life easier, but can also leave you vulnerable to hackers and viruses. You should evaluate your computer security at least twice a year - do it when you change the clocks for daylight-savings! Look at the settings on applications that you have on your computer. Your browser software, for example, typically has a security setting in its preferences area. Check what settings you have and make sure you have the security level appropriate for you. Set a high bar for yourself!

10. Make sure your family members and/or your employees know what to do if your computer becomes infected. It's important that everyone who uses a computer be aware of proper security practices. People should know how to update virus protection software, how to download security patches from software vendors and how to create a proper password. Make sure they know these tips too!

There are three ways an administrator can prevent using of USB Drives.

They are:

1. Altering registry values for USB Mass Storage Devices.
2. Disabling USB Ports from Device Manager.
3. By Un-installing the USB Mass Storage Drivers.

Lets us look at how we can fix these problems and enable USB on Windows 7 PC.

1. Disable or Enable USB Mass Storage Devices using Registry.

If the administrator is smart then he would definitely do this to ensure a tight blockade. He would alter the settings through regedit command on run console. Now how do you unlock it ? You have to go right into where the administrator has been. Here is how.

1. Go to Start > Run , type “regedit” and press enter to open the registry editor
2. Navigate to the following key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR

In the right pane, select Start and change the value to 3. (The value 4 will disable USB Storage). Click OK. This will re-enable USB Ports and allow you to use USB or Pen drives.

If you using Kaspersky Antivirus and Firewall and want to block the program to accessing the internet. This post is for you.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 contains a special component, Firewall, to ensure your security on local networks and the Internet. It filters all network activities using rules of two types: rules for applications and packet rules.

In order to block access of an application to the Internet, you can create a rule for an application in Firewall settings. to do this perform the following actions:

1. Open the main application window.
2. In the left upper corner click Settings.

3. In the Settings window on the Protection Center tab select Firewall.
4. In the right part of the window click the Settings button.
